Hello everyone,

Well, guys we are just sitting around having a quick bite to eat as I get ready for today’s race in Michigan. Hopefully the rain will hold off and we’ll be able to get in some good racing. I was really pleased with the way the car worked in yesterday’s happy hour, and I’m cautiously optimistic about what we have for today’s race. We’ve been close the last couple of weeks, but just a little off on the long run. We are still working to get there and I’m extremely confident that good things are ahead for this No. 8 U.S. Army Team.

We’ve had a lot going on this morning. Hopefully you guys watched the cutting of the cake on Speed this morning as we helped to celebrate the Army’s 233rd birthday. We’ve had a lot of fun with that this morning and who knows, maybe we can top off the celebration with a trip to victory lane.

I also have to give a little shout out to Joey Logano. I’ve known since Joey was 10-years old that he was the real deal. It sure didn’t take him long to get into the winner’s circle. I really believe that Joey Logano is going to set this NASCAR world on fire and it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch as Joey matures and – believe it or not – continues to get even better.

We have this race here today and then I’ll take a couple off before we jump back in the car at Daytona. I’m really looking forward to watching Aric at Sonoma and Loudon. Aric is a great young driver and he’s more and more ready to run in the Sprint Cup Series everyday.

Well, I guess I better go get ready for today’s race. Hopefully, we’ll give you guys something to cheer about today.

Thanks for all the support,

Mark

MSG Carter wrote: Mark, my name is MSG Jimmy Carter and I have been in the Army for almost 21 years. I have been to numerous races in my time but never been fortunate to be at one when you one. Was at Talledega in 2002 spring race when you had the lead and was unfornately taken out, AGAIN. I have been a fan since the Foldger's Ford days. I to have been unable to meet you but I do have an Autographed picture of the Valvoline number 6 that my cousin was able to get. I to would love to see you make another run at the Cup. Racing will just not be the same when I don't see you on the track and I am not looking forward to those days. When you make it to Texas for the next race. Look me up if you get the chance. I am with the 120th out of Fort Hood. Good luck at Daytona.

I just wish my fiancee could meet you but we just recently found out that he has pancreatic cancer and only has 6 months to a year to live. He is your biggest fan.

razorbackMMfan wrote: Hi Mark! Sorry the fuel strategy didn't work out. I really felt bad for you and the crew when the car conked out before the finish line. I have to say that I would rather you go for it and finish 25, than come down pit road for fuel and still finish 10 or worse. You and the Army crew just keep on digging, you'll get a win yet. Remember you promised us Indy. ;>)

ARMYRANGER8 wrote: Nice job this weekend. Sorry you couldn't make to the end on fuel. One of these days that fuel mileage deal will play into your hand and you can take one of these events like you deserve. I remember when you first talked about Joey Logano. I can't believe that he won a race that quickly. Why don't you try and get him to come over to DEI and be your teammate like you have split the season the last two years? That would be AWESOME to have you mentor him to become the next real deal in the cup series. I hope you enjoy a couple of weeks off. I'll be cheering you on again at Daytona! Hooah!

prettyblueoval wrote: Hi Mark, What an awesome effort from yourself and your crew sunday! Your team has really come together beautifully! I was really dissappointed for you guys when the fuel didn't last, I sooooooo thought you had this one! I have to say that it was an experience of a lifetime seeing you pushing Kasey and then Kasey pushing Jr., and seeing thousands of grown men melt into tears as Jr. crossed the line. I know you are gonna win very soon and I will get my chance to cry, too! (p.s. They closed the pits early sunday and they wouldnt let me walk down to your stall to give the guys their caramel corn I made for them, but one security guy promised he'd do his best to get it to them, I sure hope they got it!) God Bless our troops! Love in Christ, Colleen

wrote: concretekiller6@yahoo.com, I'm not really sure where you were, but I was in Pocono and personally watched Mark sign litteraly hundreds of autographs. The tough thing with autographs, is eventually Mark has to get to where he is going. If he signs 50, then number 51 is mad. If he signs 500 then 501 is mad. Like all of us, he does the best he can and trust me he's one of the best there is about that. There is an address on the front of the site. If you send your stuff, we'll get it signed by him and back to you as soon as we can. Thanks, ADMIN - MarkMartin.com
